Lord of the Keys

By Jeff Thompson

This Quest uses the entire curriculum on Typing.com (Typing skills and Digital Citizenship) Students should have a good understanding of, and be able to use the QWERTY Keyboard layout after completing this quest. I have set the tasks as self-paced with a few stops along the way where they have to submit screen shots or "snips" of their work before I will move them along in the quest. These stops coincide with natural breaks in the curriculum, or locations in the curriculum where the screenshot/snip will show the completion of the work. The story is my interpretation of what a cross between the Lord of the Rings and Ready Player One might sound like. Students will probably recognize some of the concepts of the story if they are familiar with these books/movies. I have added an extra piece, in the gaming spirit, an "Easter Egg". Throughout the story there are a few bold words. These bold words can be combined to make a sentence. This sentence will tell the students where in my classroom to look. If they happen to look they will win a prize, I'm thinking a gift card.
