The purpose of this quest is to have students analyze the importance of empathy using novels as anchor texts to teach the concept. Students will meet with a group and blog about empathy and how it relates to the novels they have chosen to read. This quest is meant to be infused into the curriculum for about 6-8 weeks in order to allow students time for group discussions, blogging, reading, and class discussions. I use this as my independent reading unit, but I set aside substantial class time for students to work on it in class, as well. This quest incorporates other Edtech tools such as Kidblog and Flipgrid- all amazing vehicles to help amplify student voice! However, you can tailor it to your specific needs and use any other Edtech tools that you are comfortable utilizing.
